Captain Steel (Pvt) Ltd (formerly known as Ind-Sri Industrial Corporation (Pvt) Ltd) is an ISO 9001:2015 accredited and Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) certified BOI Company registered in Sri Lanka under company act No. 17 of 1982. It commenced its commercial operations in 1994. Over a period of two decades, it has expanded its operations by establishing two production units. Unit I at Malwana (Gampha Districts) is dedicated for manufacturing of structural steel products namely MS Angles, MS flats, MS Channels, MS Square bars, and MS ‘I’ sections while automated plant, unit II at Kaduwela (Colombo District) is exclusively for manufacturing of Thermo Mechanically Treated (TMT) / (QST) reinforcement steel bars and MS Round bars.

The production capacity of Unit I and Unit II is about 40,000Mt and 90,000Mt per annum respectively. ‘Captain’ manufactures the widest range of mild steel products in Sri Lanka.

Well-equipped workshops at both the units are manned by well qualified technical staff. They are capable of undertaking any repairs and maintenance work to ensure efficient and uninterrupted functioning of the plants without outsourcing such work.

The company is being represented by a powerful team of well qualified and experienced persons in the categories of chartered engineers/engineers, accountants, managers, and senior technicians. Its’ labor force is considered as the main asset of the company.

Raw Material

‘Captain’ brand products are manufactured using high-quality raw material (Steel Billets) of international standards sourced from prime integrated steel plants abroad. The main sources of raw materials for ‘Captain’ brand products are from countries such as India, Ukraine, China, and Indonesia. One of its’ key suppliers of steel billets is Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd Visakhapatnam Steel Plant  popularly known as VIZAG steel which is a Government of INDIA, Public sector Integrated steel Plant.

SLS and ISO Certification

The Sri Lanka Standards Institution has awarded ISO 9001:2015 / SLS/ISO 9001:2015 certification for the quality management system being followed at both the plants of Captain Steel (Pvt) Ltd. The company has been awarded SLS certification and SLS Mark for its TMT bars, Rounds bars, Angle and Flat iron.
